One request, matched to the actual job

A pre-purchase inspection is not the same assignment as a tonnage measurement or commercial-code survey. We keep the scope clear from the beginning.

How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Check my survey requirement

Credential — membership, qualification or professional designation

Capability — the right vessel, material, size and survey experience

Appointment — authority from the relevant flag or organisation

Acceptance — confirmation that the resulting report or certificate will be accepted

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What information is needed to arrange a yacht survey in Italy?

Provide the yacht make, model, year, length, material, survey purpose, exact marina or yard and preferred date. Also state whether haul-out, pressure washing and sea trial can be arranged and whether an insurer, lender or registry has specified report requirements.

How much does a marine survey cost in Italy?

Pricing varies with vessel size, construction, age, survey scope, travel, yard access and report requirements. Haul-out, wash, sea trial, skipper attendance and specialist testing are usually priced separately.

Can a surveyor travel to Sardinia or Sicily?

Potentially. Island assignments require confirmation of local availability or travel arrangements, including transport time, accommodation where necessary, yard access and the planned inspection date.

Can the survey report be issued in English?

English-language reporting may be available for international purchases. Agree the report language, intended recipient, reliance rights and delivery deadline directly with the surveyor before appointment.

Is a surveyor association membership the same as flag approval?

No. Professional membership can support a competence review but does not itself prove an appointment by a registry, flag or recognised organisation. Verify the exact acceptance requirement before ordering statutory, tonnage or registration work.

Who is responsible for arranging yacht access and haul-out?

The buyer, seller, broker and yard should agree access, keys, permissions, haul-out, washing and sea-trial arrangements in advance. The surveyor should confirm what needs to be available for the agreed scope.

Can you help with other specialist marine survey assignments?

Potential assignments include new-build & refit supervision, large-yacht delivery acceptance, repair inspections, sea trials, rig & mast inspections, ultrasound, moisture & corrosion, accident investigation & expert witness, on-hire, off-hire & commercial handover. Availability depends on the location, vessel and required specialist capability or formal appointment.
